About The Medicine Hat Skating Club

Founded in 1959, the Medicine Hat Skating Club has grown into a cornerstone of our community — built on tradition, strengthened by passion, and powered by an incredible network of dedicated volunteers and supportive families.

For over six decades, families have trusted us to help their children grow — not only as skaters, but as confident, disciplined, and resilient individuals. That trust is something we value deeply, and it drives everything we do.

As we continue to evolve, we are committed to expanding our programs and creating new opportunities for skaters across Medicine Hat and the surrounding area. Our goal is to ensure every athlete — from first steps on   the ice to competitive excellence — has access to high-quality training in a positive and inspiring environment.

Excellence in Coaching

We are proud to be led by an elite coaching team that is passionate about lifelong learning and delivering modern, cutting-edge training techniques.

Under the leadership of former National Champion and Head Coach Sarah Schmidek, alongside Coach Jayden Picray, our skaters benefit from firsthand experience, high-performance insight, and a genuine love of the sport. Their dedication to excellence both on and off the ice sets the standard for our entire club.

Because the lessons learned on the ice extend far beyond the rink.
